Abstract:
Back ground: Globally, Non-Communicable diseases (NCDs) has been identified as a major of death to about 41 million of people each year, equivalent to 74% of all deaths. Out of all NCDs deaths, 77% are in low- and middle-income countries. Cardiovascular diseases account for most of these death (17.9 million people annually, followed by cancers 9.3 million People who are living with HIV(PLHIV) are at a higher risk for developing diabetes and hypertension.
Aim: This was to assess the Effectiveness of Hypertension Case-Finding Services to Clients Who Take ARV at Public Facilities in Uyui District Council.
Material and methods: The study employed a mixed approach with case study design with sample size of 255. Simple random sampling and purposive sampling techniques were used to select respondents. Questionnaire tools, unstructured Interview, and document review used for data collection.
Results: A chi-square test of independence was performed to assess the attitude and knowledge of staffs who offering blood pressure check to clients who take ARV at public health facilities. The test were statistically significant, x2(3,n=255)= 72.459,p<.000. Kendall tau-b results showed a weak negative association between attitude and insufficient knowledge of staffs offering blood pressure check to clients who take ARV at public health facilities (τb= -0.047, p=0.466, n=255).
Also, result was statistically significant, x2(3,n=255)= 37.929,p<.000. Kendall tau-b showed weak negative association between Healthy living advice to enrolled clients with hypertension who take ARV at public health facilities (τb= -0.137, p< 0.036, n=255). Result show statistically significant, x2(3,n=255)= 1.002,p<.000. and moderate negative association between Management of clients suspected with hypertension who take ARV at public health facilities Kendall tau-b (τb= -0.470, p< 0.036, n=255).
Conclusion: Effective management of hypertension require addressing a complex interplay of barriers and enablers. The study recommends that, education to be provided for clients to adhere to treatment, the government should ensure there is availability of ant-hypertensive drugs in health facilities.
