Abstract:
This study investigated the relationship between procurement planning, logistics management, and supply chain performance at World Vision International (WVI) in Aweil East County, Northern Bhar El Ghazal State, South Sudan. The research has three main objectives: to examine the connection between procurement planning and supply chain performance at WVI; to determine how logistics management influences supply chain performance within the organization; and to determine the combined effect of procurement planning and logistics management on supply chain performance in world vision international, Aweil East County. To achieve these objectives, a cross-sectional research design was employed, providing a snapshot of the current dynamics between the variables under study. The study population was 440,055 participants and a sample size of 201. Participants were selected through simple random sampling, stratified sampling, and purposive sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire as the primary tool, supplemented by an interview guide designed for in-depth insights. Pearson correlation coefficients were calculated to explore the relationships between procurement planning, logistics management, and supply chain performance, while qualitative data from interviews were subjected to thematic analysis. The study's findings demonstrate a positive and significant relationship between procurement planning and supply chain performance (r = .177*, p = .018). Furthermore, a highly significant positive relationship was identified between logistics management and supply chain performance (r = .285**, p = 0.000). These results highlight the critical roles that procurement planning and logistics management play in enhancing supply chain performance at WVI. Effective procurement planning is shown to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness in delivering humanitarian aid, while efficient logistics management ensures timely and responsive supply chain operations. These insights highlight the importance of strategic investments and enhancements in procurement and logistics management to boost operational effectiveness. In light of these findings, it is recommended that WVI invest in advanced forecasting tools, develop comprehensive procurement strategies, strengthen supplier relationships, and implement continuous improvement programs. For logistics management, optimizing transportation networks, enhancing warehouse management, investing in technology and automation, and strengthening risk management practices are advised. These measures are anticipated to improve supply chain performance and better support humanitarian objectives in challenging NGO operation environments.
